GENERAL MEETING

February 1, 2010

 

Meeting called to order at 7:40 pm

Treasurer’s Report:

 

Current account balance $9,488.00 which includes $900.00 in bull roast money.  Just an FYI, donations made by RR 73 to charities in 2009 totaled $9,278.00

 

Committee Reports

 

Membership:   Currently have 81 members.  The membership renewal will begin in March.  Please see Gail Weaver to renew your membership and to update your information.  Dues will be due at the April general meeting.  If anyone is interested in taking over this committee please see Gail.

Bull Roast:   The 5th annual bull roast will be held on Saturday, March 6 at Rosedale Gardens.  There are 4 tables left.  If you are in need of tickets please contact Al at alpietras321@comcast.net    There will be lots of door prizes and some great Ravens memorabilia to be raffled off.  We are also looking for some additional items to be put in the Wagon of Cheer that will also be raffled off that evening.  You can drop bottles or other items off at Lenny’s.  Please see Mike Weaver if you need raffle tickets.  Those who did not pick any up at a meeting will receive some in the mail this week.  Please try to sell as many as you can.  This is a big fund raiser for the roost. 

 

Convention: The Annual Convention of Ravens Roosts will be held in Ocean City from Thursday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 6th, 2010.  The theme this year is:  “The Fan Club that Wouldn’t Die”.  Andrea Yost will be sending information regarding costs, registration and activity sign up shortly.  It will also be discussed at the next general meeting.  A parade committee will be forming to work on the float, costumes, etc.  More information on this to follow also.

 

Entertainment: The following events are being planned by Bridgette Palmer:

 

March 19th or 20th – Bowling night at Country Club Lanes on Pulaski Highway.  The cost is $18.00 per person and will include 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, 2 slices of pizza and sodas.  Date and time will be sent via e-mail.  Money will be due at the March meeting.  We may be bowling against Roost 76.

 

April 24th – Pub Crawl.  Be ready to board the bus at Lenny’s at 6:00 p.m.  More details will follow.  Cost will be about $15 per person for the bus ride.  Money will be due at the March meeting.

 

May 22nd – Members’ only horseshoe tournament at Lenny’s.  More information will be available at the March meeting.

Elections – March 1, 2010 general meeting

 

Just an FYI, that the Susan G Komen Walk is scheduled for Sunday, October 3rd.  Hopefully there will not be a Ravens home game that day J

 

We are definitely planning a road trip this year so as soon as the schedule is released in April we will have some information available for trips to Houston, Atlanta or Carolina.  A decision will be made probably by May.

 

Last year, our roost donated $50.00 to Fidos for Freedom on behalf of member Debbie Kale.  Her dog Hazelnut is a therapy dog for that organization.  Well, Hazel has now completed all of her training and will be “caped” this year at the annual Gala Banquet to be held on April 10th.  Debbie will again this year ask the board for a donation.  Way to go Hazel!

 

 

 

 

 

Old Business:

 

Polar Plunge:  Ravens Roost 73 did not have a team this year, but donated $500.00 to the cause.  The total pledges from all Roosts as of Saturday’s event was in excess of $95,000.00

 

Council Bull Roast:  will be held on Saturday, February 27th at the Patapsco Arena.  RR 73 has purchased 20 tickets and will sell them to members at ˝ price ($20.00 each).    There are currently 8 tickets available on a first come, first serve basis.  Please see Lenny after the meeting if you are interested.

 

50/50 Raffle: Raffle was won by PJ Rickter
